At http://download.helpdesklive.info/ you can find installed VDI images ready to run for easy tests in VirtualBox.
I don't know if it is a good idea to offer installed images.
Also i think is a good idea to upload Alfa & Beta releases to can be easily to test, so in a short time all i386 Gutsy Herd 2 will be uploaded .

Pleas let us know if is a good idea to let this page up or not.
(sorry for ads... but the bandwidth and space have costs )

I dont think its a good idea to release pre-installed images, however hosting the CD .ISO is a great idea. Hosting pre-installed images and letting people download them then there is no variable in the VMware or whatever software you host them in. But letting people install them in whatever they want (Virtual Box, VMware, Virtual PC) then there is a variable that will help people fix and trouble shoot!!!!!!

I think this is a great idea because it saves time. I'm going to host my own .vdi server soon. Thanks for the link!

"Freedom 0 is the freedom to run the program, for any purpose."

Pre-installed vdi images are a great idea and a wonderful freedom available to GPLed operating systems.

If you think about it, Ubuntu or any other distro is a pre-installed image in a way. You could install any kernel or any package or any version of x.org instead of using what comes w/ an installation of Ubuntu :D
