I feel silly posting for this... but
Just formated. installed Beryl via "apt-get install beryl"

Playing around and then I pressed:
Super + Alt and the left mouse button and BOO!
I'm drawing lines on the screen! That's great and can be very useful.

Problem: How do you erase the lines?

Google found me this page:
http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com/articles/3d_desktops-beryl_compiz_and_more
(search for the word 'Doodle' )

And here's a screen shot they provide:

http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com/files/www.freesoftwaremagazine.com/nodes/2239/ss/doodle.jpg

The red lines are 'always on top' and in every screen/

workspace and well... I've just made a mess of my desktop
Thanks

Thank you. I've just spent 1 hour trying to find this answer. Is there a way to change the ink colour???

Yeah, you configure it in the compiz config (ccsm) as most other effects.
