Just curious, do any of them have native clients, or run smoothly under WINE? I almost got two of them working this morning, but then glitches (which seem to be present in the Windows version as well) stopped me from being able to actually, you know, play them.
Most of them have to use ActiveX or GameGuard or some other annoying thing that will stop WINE, but is there anything in this general area that runs?
I just want something that's good for a bit of a distraction, has a semi-decent (english speaking) community, and doesn't look half bad. It doesn't have to have a plot or deep quests, almost any of them would be fine.

As far as I know, none of them have native Linux clients. That said, Ragnarok Online supposedly runs via Wine, and I heard that someone got Magna Carta running...but I think that is scuttlebutt. :)
Lineage 1 & 2 do not run at all, because of GameGuard. I think there was effort to get a workaround going on the Lineage forums, but I think that stalled.
I do not know about the others....if you are just looking for a distraction, Guild Wars runs via Wine (and some tinkering...not to bad), as does World of Warcraft. Those might be options.

Here is the complete list of MMOs that have been tested with Wine. I'm sure one of them works and will meet your needs:

Amazing cogadh, I'd never seen that before, let alone looked through it painstakingly hoping that at least one of them was stable and free.

Nah, like I said, I want something free, because I'm a cheap *******, and there's just a certain "let's go across the countryside randomly slaying things" feeling you get from grindfest MMOs and not in the more focused, monthly payment MMOs

Was that supposed to be sarcasm?

very strong sarcasm.
If you don't actually have anything to contribute an EXTREMELY obvious link, you probably don't need to post at all. If I mentioned that I tried two and WINE within five words of each other, what do you think? Let alone the fact that I put somewhat restrictive criteria on them, and you post a link where probably half the games go against them. It's not helpful, it's almost rude.

Ouch buddy. Just calm down a bit there. And one of the posters mentioned WoW and Guild Wars and you dismissed them because they are P2P (well done sir I hate P2P as well). But Guild Wars is free online play. It looks kinda cool too. I'm thinking about checking it out. :guitar:

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, all it shows is that you are not smart enough to produce an original thought. If anyone is being rude here, it is you.
You should be a little more appreciative when you ask for help and someone actually offers you legitimate assistance. The fact that you have mentioned trying Wine didn't indicate that you had looked at or had even heard of Wine's AppDB site. The link I provided offered a list that included exactly what you asked for, plus more. If giving more than you asked for is being rude, then so be it, I am one rude son of a bitch and happy to be one.

Lineage 2 is by far the best Korean *GRIND*fest MMO. IMO of course.
Is doesn't work because with wine/cedega last I heard because of Gamegaurd.
However if you download Lineage II: Chronicle 4 you can play a number of very good Private Servers (servers hosted by enthusiast using 'leaked' server files). Most of which wont require GameGaurd. A server I used to play on had 5000+ players during peak hours. Completely free of course (The client is free to download also, you only pay for the 'Official Servers').

Yes, but the installer wouldn't work for me for some reason.
But Guild Wars is free online play.
You still have to actually pay for it.
Glencore, I'm not interested in illegal servers, but thanks for the thought.
