Hi guys. I am amazed at the fact that ubuntu is the only friggin system that detects my hardware ! I am running an intel core 2 duo with 2 gigs of ram , an hp pavilion a1640n to be exact , and on every other distro , first i have to do acpi=off , and then my usb slots dont work. i compiled a new kernel for my ubuntu box and it has the problems i mentioned. What patches do you guys add to the kernel , or what do you cahnge , for it to work on the new pc's(like myne)

Hi there,
This question might be better addressed to the Ubuntu dev team, rather than us here at ubuntuforums.org. I can't say there's anything particularly spectacular about the Ubuntu kernels though. Having said that, support for a small number of things has been added ... they are clearly marked in the kernel configurator, if you want to take a look at them.
