I'm an avid themer(though new to metacity). If anyone has any themes you would like to see ported to gnome, post here. I will try my best to port it.

Awsome, how about HmmmXP? The normal skin and whistler variant are sweet. Here (http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=145446)
Watercolour is also cool. (http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=32604)

nah you don't have to port it if you don't wanna. If someone request something else. I can port it if I want it. It would make a good learning experience though. Look at gpod or blue carbon to get an idea on positioning all the pieces.

If someone does the gtk2 theme I'll do the metacity one, the actual window deco would be easy, but you would need the gtk2 theme to make it look right

nah...but of course that depends on what you are expecting of gtk....
As seen with rpanther3, the gradient bg can be accomplished but is terribly slow. That said, it would be pointless to accurately do the metacity, well just the bottom of the titlebar would not have the gradient. Other than that, it's just another theme.
