I didn't see anyone mention this game, but, are there any other people anticipating the open beta release of the free to play mmorpg 2Moons?
I hope later, it can run on ubuntu with Wine desktop. (yes, 2moons uses directX) I hope gameguard wouldn't prove that much of a problem to run on ubuntu.

2 moons is out now. I hope it is workable in Ubuntu via wine. I shall try it out tonight.

Never heard of it.
Personally I'm waiting for Wakfu (http://www.wakfu.com/en) to be released.

I saw the game. Simply amazing. I cannot believe that game is free. I am going to have to install my old XP or windows 2000 just to play that game assuming it does not work in my linux setup. I shall dual-boot though.
I installed it successfully, but it does not launch completely when run.
Game is incredible.
How do you uninstall certain games from wine that never installed properly to begin with. How do you remove them from your wine application menu launchers.?

to remove the folder simply just erase the game folder from Program Files.

Run "uninstaller" from the terminal, that will allow you to properly uninstall the game. If the game doesn't appear in the uninstaller application, then follow atomkarinca's advice.
EDIT - Hmmm, why do I get the feeling that the original poster was just spamming? He just joined and only has two posts, both of which are subtle advertisements for 2Moons....

haha that may be true. but i think that's acceptable since it's a free game.

Well, it's sort of free. It's really ad and micro transaction supported. Yet another of those games that is free to play, but if you want the good stuff you have to pay.

I would not call it SPAM. The game is literarily that good for now. With such a game made known to the ears of us here in Ubuntu, you have more people to try it out and perhaps coerce the developers to think of compatibility with wine or linux as was the case with WOW and silk road online. This would minimize ones likelihood to go install an XP partition just for gaming.
Wine has really become easier to use and more powerful.
I really want this game to work for me.
The poster seems very informed about the likely incompartibilities with the game in linux and as such is likely making it known to us in a bigger more influential distribution.
Pardon, my rant.

The quality of the game has nothing to do with whether or not the message is spam. Even spam about good games is still spam.
I think you have things a little bit backwards. The developers of WoW and Slikroad did nothing to make their applications "Wine compatible" the ongoing work of the Wine developers made those games function in Wine.
As for the poster's knowledge, he didn't post anything that isn't already very widely and very well known about Linux and Windows applications in general.
There is no need to pardon a rant, everyone is entitled to once in a while. :)

I think we can let this one slide since it actually got a decent response.
I'll be watching the OP if he ever posts again. :p

i installed 2 moons the day it came out on my ubuntu feisty, wine is having problems getting passed the gameguard load up ( which i assumed it would ) wine isnt the happiest when there is a game with the usage of gameguard, but people are on the official 2moons irc channel asking and waiting for a way to get it running . i am watching and waiting also.

I played this on my windows partition, and it would be really cool to be able to play it in Ubuntu. Ubuntu's gaming coverage seriously lacks in the MMORPG/RPG area. The current offerings are terrible, in my not-so-humble opinion.

Ubuntu is not the problem, it's the games that aren't made to run on Linux that are the problem. It wouldn't matter if you were using Suse, Fedora, Ubuntu, Slackware or any other form of Linux, there just aren't that many good MMOs made with a Linux compatible client.

Well that's true. And I'm a complete Ubuntu newbie...so even if it's *possible* to get a game working, chances are I'll screw it up somehow and break my Ubuntu. :P

Just heard of 2Moons yesterday! I loaded WinXP on another part just to play it! It is a GREAT game simply because it is a free game that looks good! So far i think it is a good WoW replacement since i hate paying the $$$! That would ROCK MY FACE OFF if i could eventually play this game on Ubuntu.

As long as the game still uses GameGuard, that will never happen. There is no Linux version of GameGuard and there is no way it will ever run in Wine.

Bummer ... oh well. I will have to keep Windows on then. :)
