Teams in West Africa are gearing up to promote FOSS on Software Freedom Day 2005 (Sept. 10th). They will be handing out copies of the official SFD disc, which this year is TheOpenCD 3.0 (http://www.theopencd.org/index.php?option=com_static&staticfile=screenshots-v3.0.html&Itemid=47), including a reduced version of Ubuntu 5.04 Live. SFD has a report from a recent summit here (http://softwarefreedomday.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=28&Itemid=1).

Europe and the US are quite under-represented comparing with places like Africa and India, in terms of team registrations. Why is that? Odd when you think that there are 2-300 times more computers per capita in those places and most of the FOSS gets written there.
