So why does the gnome trash applet have a recycle sign on it when it is clearly named "Trash Applet"? Ubuntu is supposed to make sense right? so what's up with this mislabeling? I am using the human theme icon set so it may vary for other gnome users.
And um.. this isn't a very important question after all.:p

I disagree, this is a very important topic. I would like to see Ubuntu to more recycling. After all, where is this trash going?? Hmmm??? As responible human beings shouldn't we be taking care of our planet by recycling more?

Wouldn't surprise me if MS patented the whole Recycle Bin thing...
how about a 'Compost Bin'- even more eco friendly!

Technically... it's recycling the disk space on which your deleted documents are parked.

i wish the trash would let u restore files to where you deleted them
then it could pass as a recycling bin. .. sort of..

That would be very useful. I think the Windows Explorer recycle bin has this functionality so it would be good if we could do it here :(

This issue has been a topic of discussion for YEARS:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41850
I don't know if the age of the issue is an indicator that progress may finally come or if it indicates that this is a dead issue to the developers.
