That's the first time i actually saw such a thing happening on a Linux based system in public, already seen a few Windows BSOD or rebooting. Probably because Linux is still rarely used. I wonder which distro they're running, i'd guess it's a custom tailored one, but probably just some stock distro with default options :D

Are you sure it's linux? I have no /etc/adm directory on my Ubuntu or Redhat boxes. It might actually be a Unix eg HP-UX

I did some google for the file /usr/adm/inetd.sec file and it looks like a Unix OS, use with and HP (http://docs.hp.com/en/32650-90898/ch02s06.html) machine, well it can be ANY manufacturer, I also search for the DT user's guide (at the bottom of the dialog windows) and It shows up an IBM (http://publib16.boulder.ibm.com/pseries/en_US/aixuser/usrosdev/cde_custom.htm) page. So it's definitively not a Linux OS, rather a Unix one, cuz I don't think HP uses OS/2.
Here (http://ftp.ssh.com/pub/ssh/contrib/inetd.sec.patch)'s an other page with some technical info about the HP-UX 10.X using that file.

I'm going to go ahead and get on the "It's Solaris" bandwagon.
That looks familiar to me from my toiling with Solaris in the past.

I really miss Solaris..
For those of you who saw my thread: I'm going to fix up the dead 1U and put OpenSolaris11 on it, I think :)
I saw Bryan Cantrill playing with it at a LISA meeting at IL4 (Apple Headquarters, Infinite Loop Building 4) and it looked _really_ nice. He was demoing DTrace for us :)

Tangential^2: If you _EVER_ Get the opportunity to see Cantrill speak, I urge you to take it without hesitation. He's hillarious and _so_ damn intelligent.

Well.. as long as you don't like Pascal or are what he calls a "compiler freak".
Then you might be slightly offended as he hates both of those things ;P

You're running 9 though, it may be 10.
I used 10 and OpenSolaris11 and I'm almost positive I saw it in there.

I don't however recall seeing /adm on our Novell SBS or SuSE boxes...
Nope, just checked... Our SuSE box has no idea what /etc/adm is.

Just searched google.com/bsd and google.com/linux and it looks like it could be either. Older linux distros may have had it or something. And I do remember that interface from the old days of linuxing.

I hardly think it matters though ;)

I hardly think it matters though ;)Probably not, huh?

Ah well.
I got a neat picture at a Virgin Megastore in San Francisco of every one of their displays (the ones that usually scroll the "Hot New Single!" and stuff like that) crying about a broken IDE device at the bios.
That made me giggle.
