Ubuntu version is 1.1.0.3
while the available version is 1.1.0.20
I just removed the ubuntu universal version and installed the .deb from skypes site and it worked fine.

I didn't even know there was a version of Skype in the universe repository....

Ahh. Well this is a better solution than adding delay in the chain by having someone manually adding it to backports.
