I don't know if this belong's here but I saw the heading called Community Market , I am thinking it's a right place to ask for some help in business terms.
Well I want to start a business and right now just trying to get into an ISP business, I ran into some problems.
First I want to know how businesse's offer different payment offer's like credit card's ect, do I have to make a deal directly to the credit card companies or would the bank be able to make the deals with them so my customers would be able to pay through credit card's.
That's the 1st questions , which was how to be able to offer credit card payments.
Then 2nd one is, Where would I register my name if I want to go national??
Those are the only questions I have right now.
Thanks for your time.

Hi Hockey,
Thanks for asking the questions. Accepting credit card payment requires you to open a bank account called a "Merchants Account" You will want to talk to your local bank for information on this. To open the account you are going to be paying between $10 - $60 per month plus 1.5% - 3% of all transactions that go through you. (Believe me they get paid ;) Now if you wanna except american express cards I believe they take around 3.5.
Here is a great tip, "Never do business under your own name" it goes right along with "never invest your own money" The second one there is really bendable. The reason that you never wanna do business under your personal name etc or from your house etc its because the unbelievable amount of risk of being suide or going bankrupt. Even if you are only moving 30$ of product a month you wanna incorporate a business and run everything from there. That will ensure that if anything happens to your business, you will not be effected personally. I recommend a LLC they are cheap and easy to set up. So the answer to the second question is YES set up a LLC or anything but don't do in under your personal name.
Hope this helps!

thanks for the reply, I am trying to get into the ISP business, I thought this website was good,
http://www.webspeco.net/cms/component/page,shop.browse/category_id,15/option,com_virtuemart/Itemid,168/
for dsl wholesale, so I called them, they were telling me that it's only for the south, and it's a t&t network they use.
Does anyone know a good place to find wholeale deals, for like internet.
well I wanted to get into a business that has low cost expenses, over here the commercial tax for commercial buildings are high.
I am 18, and my dad is retired I am looking for way's to make money so I can save up to buy a car and car insurance since my dad can't afford another car and can't
afford the spike in his car insurance since I am 18 .
So I am think into going into a business, I worked for the city in park and reqs, and saved up money.
I just graduated highschool going into college this fall.
so I want to go into a business that won't take all my time to do.
So tought the only answer was online internet,
something that be automated and yet I can still check on things.
What would you guy's suggest???
me and my dad went to my Bank and asked the manager about the credit cards ect they told us that the can't help us.
so I came on here asking about the credit cards, to find out the whole proccess.
Now I can see why some stores say they don't accept credit cards.
Thanks for the replies

If a store say's they don't accept credit cards it's a really bad sign and I wouldn't do business with them. Why would I say this? Because there are only two reasons why they wouldn't. Either they have gone bankrupt/don't have a good track record or customers have made transactions through them and been screwed.
If your bank doesn't have any merchant services (which is really really weird mind you, I would find a different bank to do business with) I recommend wells fargo. I don't know what your credit has to be like to get an account with them. I have been in business since I was 15 so my LLC (no me mind you my LLC) has an amazing track record. If you are going into business you need to wait a year after incorporating yourself and you MUST register with Dun and Brad Street. It will cost you but is worth it.
If you want a simple solution to accepting credit cards online just use Pay Pal. I don't use them because they can freeze your account if even one transaction gets a dispute, but they have a all in one package so should work well. Also I have heard good things about their shopping cart. I am not in the ISP business so wouldn't know where to start. I recommend finding a business that is doing what you wanna do and call them up and milk them for information about how they function etc.
I don't believe in the saying "Don't re invent the wheel" why? because if the wheel was never re invented we would still be riding wooden wheels and don't work very well. Take the wheel and make it better. You only have to be 10% better than someone else to make a million dollars.
Hope you are successful!
