okay so Im just going to upgrade my kernel before i put madwifi in, since I was going to do that anyway.

however, I'm lacking the ncurses development package, where can I get it?

You can install linux-headers-2.6.10-5-power4, with synaptic or apt-get or aptitude, I think sufficient that. If you want the package is on one of repositories, look http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/
