server command

Hello there, I have Linux router.router.lan 2.6.9-10.cc #1 Sun Mar 6 11:02:57 EST 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux version of my server. Now I have this problem that I don't know basic things. How to install a package ?

I am user and a root on this server.

Is this Ubuntu based, or some other distribution? Not asking because we will shun you for not being an Ubuntu user, it actually makes a difference to the commands you need.

Well dont't bother I figured it out. The problem was not so meny repos :)

you login to your linuxserver, and type:
cat /etc/lsb-release

and then show me the output
