View Full Version : usb devices,when unplugged shuts down xp

so when i unplug a usb device be it my camera or a flashdrive.
and i have shut them down properly.
when i pull out the plug it causes a reboot to my windows xp.(havnt tried linux yet but will soon)
this is only been going on fort a day or two..

any one have any ideas i am running out..

edit // no it is fine in ubuntu works the way it should..
so i wonder what has changed on my xp install..?

hi, did you check the log files (event viewer), you may get a clue there, also, you could untick the automatic restart box, that way you may get a blue-screen with an error code you could post back, or type into the search bar at ms support website.

you could maybe try a system restore to a date before the fault developed.

Right-click 'My COmputer', select 'Properties', select 'Hardware' tab, click on 'Device Manager' and verify all nec drivers for USB, USB Host Controller, USB hub, etc are installed and working correctly...

thanks but done that,everything there is ok

i will have a read of them and see,but as to the microsoft support site ,well i will leave it there i was not impressed last time i tried to get help there.

i always turn off system restore,those nasty little viruses put things in there,just for that reason
