tremulous install

I just downloaded tremulous fro linux, but when I click on the file to install it it says:
gedit has not been able to detect the character coding.
Please check that you are not trying to open a binary file.
Select a character coding from the menu and try again.

I only have 2 codes listed in the dropdown menu, current locale and western unicode and neither works...someone help pls

I get the feeling that you're trying to open a binary installer in gedit. lol

Just so you know, tremulous is in the universe or multiverse (forget which) repos so you won't even need the binary installer in most cases.
