Thanks to the great walk-throughs that have been posted here, I managed to get compiz-fusion working perfectly on the first try, no issues. Now that I have it working, I have a couple questions about configuring it; specifically - workspace switching in cube mode.

In beryl when I choose one of the workspaces from the default workspace switcher on the desktop tool bar, I get a neat little spinning cube effect. I didn't have to configure anything, it just worked. However compiz-fusion doesn't seem to have recognized my workspace switcher at all. It sort of changes the desktop, but it appears to be outside the realm of the compiz cube somehow, if that makes any sense. Like the compiz cube exists in only the first of four gnome desktops, or something.

1) Is there a way to make compiz-fusion play nicely with my current (gnome default) workspace switcher?
2) If not, is there another workspace switcher I should be using? A compiz plug-in perhaps?
3) If no to both of the above, is this feature not working yet?

Same questions as above, but for the scoll wheel spinning cube effect in beryl.

Actually. the faeture works perfectly (at least for me). Go to your CompizConfig Settings Manager and under General Options->Desktop Size,

Horizontal Virtual Size: 4
Vertical Virtual Size: 1
Number of Desktops: 1

You can change the Horizontal Virtual Size to change the shape of the prism you're spinning. You could make it a pentagon-based prism, for one thing. Changing the horizontal virtual size changes the number of sides the "cube" has

Excellent. I don't have the machine with me to try it out at the moment, but I'll make sure to post the results later. Thank you.

Hi, i've installed everything correctly, but i'm still having some real hard time configuring any of the visual effects. The only thing i have working right now is the wobbly windows plugin, the menu transparency and bounciness, and some sort of "corner of screen" control where as i hover my mouse on one of the corners, my windows spread all around the screen.

I would very much like to get the effects working (aka THE cube ^^), but the user interface is very cryptic. For instance, i only have a laptop keyboard and a Microsoft mouse as periferals, and i'm not quite sure what <initiate plugin action : Button2> means (in viewport mouse switching).

I'm running this (with no apparent problem) on a Compaq Presario V2000, ati radeo express 200m, 1.8GHz Turion 64, 1280mb RAM. oh and i have feisty.

This is really too sweet!!
1 minor tiny little drawback I have run upon:
I cannot seem to be able to surf over a 6 sided cube (Virtually) and it be comprised of my desktops...
...How do I truly get that effect?
Can I?
...Still the SWEETEST bell/ whistle I have ever seen!!

Set your Horizontal Virtual Size to 6.
