Hi,
I'm looking for any good racing game. Most importantly, it should be easy to use, just install and play(no getting around to download files, configure stuff, etc.), and feel finished if possible.

Any candidates?

Thanks!

Are you looking for a free game or a commercial game?

You can always go to www.winehq.com and check out their appdb on which windows games works.

Other than that... TORCS? Not sure what you mean by "racing" even. I guess even slune could fit into that category. Or Tuxkart. What I am trying to say is... can you be more specific?

Personally I recommend VDrift and ManiaDrive.
Which are also availible for easy download and install in GetDeb.net (http://www.getdeb.net/category.php?id=3)'s games section.

I tried Slune, it's a great game with a good storyline and nice style of gfx, but it's too short so I finished it in a short time.

It doesn't matter if it's free or commercial, as long as it is native. (but if there's something that works 100% with Wine, and it's a good game, I might give it a try)

I tried TORCS, it has this WIP feeling and it doesn't feel like fun. But maybe there are some extra steps to do, so that I can enjoy it?

I installed ManiaDrive, but in the start menu, the mouse was VERY VERY slow, I doubt the game would be any faster. so I guess this Intel Extreme Graphics 2 isn't up to the job here :P I will give it a try again when I get my nVidia card this month.

I'm now downloading VDrift.

>.< I had trouble with ManiaDrive on my old intel card as well, exactly what you're experiencing.

I upgraded to an Nvidia GeForce card and that problem went away. Sad that you're missing out on a fun one.

+1 for maniadrive. I was surprised to see such a quality game for linux really. didn't expect it to be so polished, almost like a commercial windows game.
FUN! :)
I wish there was more games like this on the linux gaming scene.

Would a GeForce FX 5200 work with it? Or would I have to get something like the 6600? Because I'm a bit low on cash right now :P
But judging from how it looks at the beginning, I'd say it's a polished game.

Maniadrive (http://maniadrive.raydium.org/) is the quickfix here.

VDrift (http://www.vdrift.net/) is the long term answer. The next VDrift release will contain 1 very polished car, 1 very polished track, and a much improved GUI. VDrift has always been distrbuted as an autopackage installer. (I wish more game projects would do the same.)

You should have no problems with using a GeForce FX 5200. Thats what I use.
