How in the world are you suppose to buy Linux games?Game makers complain that if they make games for Linux then Linux user might pirate the game instead of buying then but I can't even find a secure place on the internet to buy Penumbra Overture (http://www.amazon.com/Got-Game-00053-Penumbra-Overture/dp/B000NKPFB6/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-7468984-6308744?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1182975888&sr=8-1) for Linux.I know there is one because of Penumbra Overture web site.is there a place where I might find it for Linux or is it like Doom 3 where you can rip data off the win32 disc?

you buy it from here: http://www.penumbra-overture.com/buy.php
and no it's not like doom3, the windows and linux versions are totally seperate, and make sure the demo (http://www.penumbra-overture.com/demo.php) works before you buy as there is no refund
and by the way if you're looking for the boxed version of the game, there is none, it's download only for linux

If you just ckick on the penguin you are sent to a secure site. (Don't fear the penguins) :p
Edit : But try the demo first, to see if you get it to work

Are we talking about how to buy Penumbra Overture specifically, or good Linux games to buy in general?
If the former, I must express my disappointment at Amazon for not stocking many Linux games. I can't remember ever running across one on there, actually.
If the latter, I must make an obligatory mention of IntroVersion Software (http://www.introversion.co.uk/).

I was mostly referring to Penumbra Overture however I appreciate the link.I have finally decided to go with the windows version of Penumbra Overture just for the compatibility as it works with wine. With any luck it will work with cedega too.

that's a mistake, just buy it through their site, it'll play a hell of a lot better native, and myself and however many others have purchased it through that site without any problems, as for the unsecure connection, just make sure you are not doing it over wireless
actually i just checked it there again and firefox says it is secure

I got another question on this subject. Were do you get boxed versions of Linux games like doom 3 would I just buy the one at the store or is there a certain version I need. I asked a guy at game stop this he said he didn't know but I was pleased to see that it seemed like he knew what Linux was.

Hi. I think Linux Game Publishing (http://www.linuxgamepublishing.com/) and TuxGames (http://www.tuxgames.com/) sell boxed versions of their games; you can find Doom 3 (http://www.tuxgames.com/donesearch.cgi?type=and&search=doom+3) on TuxGames.

Penumbra Overture was just about the best thing I've purchased for Linux (right next to MoneyDance)
Great game.. The only problem I had was with sound threading which is easily fixed in penumbra's config file

I wish Tuxgames / Linux Games Publishing would get more distributors in the USA. In fact if I can ever get all my things in order, I do plan on opening up a Linux based computer shop. I am definitely going to try to carry boxed Linux games.
Just a quick search on Amazon.com I found Quake 3 Arena http://www.amazon.com/Loki-Entertainment-Software-Quake-Arena/dp/B000046Q56/ref=sr_1_19/105-1370860-8066067?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1183037538&sr=8-19 and Wargasm http://www.amazon.com/Atari-44531WARGCDR-Wargasm/dp/B00002S83Y/ref=sr_1_44/105-1370860-8066067?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1183037566&sr=8-44
They used to have more, unless I'm thinking of Amazon.co.uk. Though I just checked there, and they had Barkanoid 2 (which I didn't know was for Linux, I'm shocked!)
