New Firefox release, more security fixes. Will we see a backport when it hits the Breezy repos?

Can we just download the linux v1.0.5 tar.gz from the Firefox website and install this on Ubuntu?

Please excuse me, I'm new to Ubuntu (and Linux).

So will the security fixes from 1.0.5 get backported soon? This isn't even about features it is just about keeping our systems secure and safe and that is something everyone needs to worry about.

Why all this talk about backports? Why can't ubuntu just inherit the firefox debs from Debian. They are already up to 1.0.4!

Ok, FF 1.0.5 will be built whenever it enters Breezy.

As far as why Backports is around, there are plenty of resources that answer this question.

And i think it doesnt enter Breezy because this Week 1.0.6 is following because of API Bugs in the 1.0.5 !

Same for Thunderbird.

By the Way - why isn´t this Thread at the "Requests" Forum ???

You get nothing, I guess. Things like that don't have to be there right away in breezy, it's unstable.

On second though, I'll wait for 1.0.6 to enter Breezy.

P.S. a frame-injection patch is already in the Backports Firefox 1.0.4... Are we certain Backports firefox is vulnerable in the meantime?
