To install Kubuntu feisty, I completely erased my mac and repartitioned it using disk utility on the OS X install DVD. After I install OS X, I did a software update and updated everything, then I installed Kubuntu Feisty.

Now, software update is telling me I need to update to Mac OS X 10.4.10 (I'm using .9). I know that if you reinstall OS X it will erase Kubuntu. What I need to know is if updating to OS X 10.4.10 from OS X 10.4.9 will erase Feisty.

Also, although I don't think this matters, I'm using a 2G iMac G5, 20", 250 GB, 512 MB of RAM

Thanks.

If you have a dual-boot menu where it asks which system to boot in, it may remove that menu. but then you can boot in ubuntu by holding alt key down and then restore boot menu.

How do I restore the menu? I remember it was something like sudo ybin -v but I can't remember exactly.

By the way, there was no need to erase the entire hard drive. Parted can shrink HFS+ partitions nicely.

I don't know about upgrading. I guess I'll find out when I upgrade to Leopard :p
