im going to get a hosting with www.godaddy.com you can pick what OS you want your website hosted on like linux or windows?
so what do you think is the best at this? safer, faster........

Thats really a hard question to answer. A server is as safe and fast as the person administrating it. It depends on your site needs. What languages and libs you're be using.

Do you want to write or use ASP applications? If not, then I don't see any reason to use Windows based hosting.

don't you think this question is a little bit stupid to be asked in a linux forum? :-)
i am not surprised about the result :-)
If you need special services for your server ask people in a web devel forum, they might give you more differentiated answers. But i think linux is by far superior for webhosting anyway, of course!

I perfered linux hosting even back when I used windows and thought linux was like winNT 3.1 but more secure and stable. Because linux has a very good reputation when it comes to servers.

What is cheaper? If you that matters go with the cheaper, if not go with gnu/Linux.
