I'm playing around with Ubuntu and seeing whether it will support IBM 5250 (sessions and printing).

I've grabbed tn5250 from the repositories and that works quite well.
I've grabbed Client Access via RPM and used alien to install it and that worked reasonably well.

I have had a problem with IBM AS/400 printing though. There is an app called lp5250 which will print simple AS/400 output but chokes on more complex output.

Is there anyone out there who has successfully implemented AS/400 printing via Linux? I'm asking in the Red Hat forums because the original 5250 RPM is I guess intended for Red Hat.

With CA for Linux, did you ever get the appearance to look better? I hated the default appearance that came with the product, but could not find anything to fix it. Frankly the windows version is about 10,000 times better.

I have to agree with you that Client Access on Linux looks terrible and printing support is poor compared to the Windows version. It's a shame considering IBM's trumpeted support for Linux.
