I've been using Linux for a few years now, but not exclusively until recently.
With Windows, a used a program called "Game Maker". It's a great free program you can use to develop games, and I've made a few with it already. Since I am so used to Game Maker, I would like to remain within the vicinity of what I know, instead of learning a new (probably harder) way of designing games.
I'm very poor at coding, so C++ is out of the question, at least at the moment. I would like to use Game Maker with Ubuntu. I've tried Wine and WineX, but neither work.
I know it's true that when you are developing any application, its best to develop it in its own native environment. I have a Windows installation on another partition, and just today I booted into it for the first time since two months ago. I forgot how annoying Windows is, and I just can't deal with Windows anymore. I don't know why, but Windows frustrates me for some reason.
Anyway, is there any way I can get this great program to run in Linux? It would be great, as I'd be able to kill my Windows installation, and use its hard disk for something more useful. I have a game that I am designing, that I actually have on temporary hold because I can't stand to use Windows.
In the even that this is not possible, I will consider other applications for designing games. Preferably something easy, and as user friendly as Game Maker is.
Those of you that have used Game Maker will probably know what I'm talking about.
Any ideas?
