What trouble are you having? If you're not trying to hook up an external monitor, it should be a pretty trivial process. If sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg doesn't allow you to declare the desired resolution, then just add it manually to your xorg.conf. Be more detailed about your trouble.
