Hi all!
I've now been googleing for a while, and i can not find what i'm searching for.
I have installed a pci-parallel card in my ppc-g3 machine. It runs kernel 2.6.10 (it's a hell of a job upgading the kernel, cause i have to use bootx as my loader), and i can't find the parport and parport_pc modules on my system (it's a parport card for pc, but after googling, i found that it's supported by the parport/parport_pc module, so that is not the problem i think).
My question;
Do i have to compile my self a whole new kernel in order to get the parport modules, or, can i just simply download them from somewhere.
if i have to compile a kernel (folowing the guide here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=43065&highlight=parport f.ex.), will the standar ubuntu options be marked by default, or will i get a smaller kernel, maybe lacking some of the stuff that comes in by default. Kernel-compiling is something that i find kind of scaring, and my router is kind of importent for my network :)
UPDATE:
I posted this question in the general hw-forum instead. Click here (http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=248547#post248547) .
