I decided to have a laugh today and went to Window's Vista's Forum. I checked the Installing section in it... and sniggered evilly.

Seriously. The forum moderators were called MVPs. They asked if they had any virus software installed opn the computer, and I rolled my eyes. Why in the world would security software stop installing Vista? That, and it made me realize how hard it is to install Vista. Say you have a problem that is probably unsolvable when installing. The MVPs just shrug and say "Oh well". In Ubuntu, if there is a problem, you can go into the terminal and find what is causing that problem that prevents you from loading that shiny new Ubuntu/Xubuntu/Kubuntu/whatever you have.

Then I typed in that "evil" L-word in the search engine that should never be typed in a Windows forum. There was one guy who started a flame war for fifty-two posts with an MVP. I read through it and it gave me the impression that Forum moderators had any control over this. Heck, they didn't even lock the thread down! (even though it ended at the end of March)

And there was this guy who didn't "get" Ubuntu. That's fine with me, but apparently, this guy didn't ask for help for his graphics card. One guy even dared to say "Linsux". Grrr...

Lol, that was mildly entertaining... check the vista x64 forums too for a laugh. I posted in there once when they were being really silly bashing Linux with lies, it was funny how they got silent when I pointed the truth. :D

Pretty boring stuff, this subject is. It always ends the same. But if you get a kick out of it knock yourself out, I won't judge. It's just a fact that anyone who attacks alternatives to Windows does so because their job depends on it or will in the future in one way or another. No one in their right mind as an objective party would get offended at poking fun at how crappy Windows and Microsoft is.

There is a Windows forum that built a Linux distro based on Morphix/Knoppix, actually the distro is pretty sweet...

I am not sure want has happened to the distro...shift linux (http://shiftlinux.net/) by Neowin.net (http://neowin.net/):

2006-10-18 Development Release: Shift Linux 0.3.1 (http://distrowatch.com/3784) http://distrowatch.com/images/icon-large/shift.png (http://distrowatch.com/shift) Shift (http://distrowatch.com/shift) Linux is a Debian and Morphix-based distribution created by the Neowin community at Neowin.net (http://neowin.net/) as an easy-to-use live CD for desktop use. The project has released its latest development build - version 0.3.1 GNOME edition: "Shift Linux GNOME 0.3.1 ready for testing. We are very interested in the following aspects as you test it: detection of your computer hardware; graphics bugs; the right resolution (especially on wide screens). We do not need to know about branding issues at this time. We will fix those for Shift 0.5. Thanks to everyone who made this possible. You can expect Shift 0.3 Fluxbox very shortly!" Read the release announcement (http://www.shiftlinux.net/dev/?p=24) and visit the project's web site (http://shiftlinux.net/) for more information. Interested beta testers can download (http://shiftlinux.net/index.php?page=download) the live CD image from here: shiftgnome031.iso (http://shiftftp.hosting4less.com/kinetix63/shiftgnome031.iso) (391MB).http://distrowatch.com/index.php?distribution=shift&month=all&year=all

Actually, everyone I know that's insulted linux is a dumbass who's on the verge of dropping out of college.

That's not what I mean though. I'm talking about the people who vehemently try to discredit anything that is not Windows with pseudo-logic that fools idiots. Not the garden variety twit that doesn't know what they're talking about and doesn't care.

That's what I'm referring to as well.

I've had to discuss on more than one occasion how linux doesn't suck just because it's free.

Seriously, what would you except from a thirteen-yeard old Microsoft fanboy on a WINDOWS FORUM?

I'm pretty sure you'll find some "Winblows"-people here too. Just look hard enough. (not really)

What's with the 'if the post was useful to you, tell us so we can help others'? I never understood them. Has anyone ever answered them? Because I've never seen anything pop up and say "10 people viewed this and said it was very good", etc.

LOL!

This thread cracks me up, the "Winblows" and "Linsux" are just as childish and pathetic as each other.

Yeah, I have to agree. I love people who hate Windows, but just saying "Winblows" or "Windoze" seems very childish to me. M$? Nah, not childish. Just saying a fact :D.

Try http://www.vistaboard.org, look for "Ubuntu".

Also, what else is broken is that they are advertising for Firefox, "A more secure way to surf the web"

Seems like M$ is breaking down and realizing IE sucks.

EDIT: I noticed the admin also wanted and downloaded Ubuntu. HAHAHAHAHA!!!! And the way you have to type in the letters in an image just to search for something is broken entirely.

Also, you sure this is an official webpage for Vista, sure doesn't look it ;)!

I don't get a kick out of these people's remarks on "linsux", or such. I find it funny that Microsoft hired these MVPs to help these people and they hardly do that. Believe it or not, MVP's probably aren't staff. I read somewhere that Microsoft awards people with MVPs bsed on there experience and helpfulness. And... that just made a "helpful MVP" an oxymoron.

What's an MVP?;)
EDIT; ignore question above, found out!

"Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs) are exceptional technical community leaders from around the world who are awarded for voluntarily sharing their high quality, real world expertise in offline and online technical communities. Microsoft MVPs are a highly select group of experts that represents the technical community's best and brightest, and they share a deep commitment to community and a willingness to help others."
