GIMP Purged my Brushes?

I am new to Ubuntu, but not to GIMP. When I switched my OS from Windows To Ubuntu I had to reinstall all my brushes. I seem to be only able to do this with the script command in GIMP. I found that half way into this nightmare I had lost about half my brushes. Any ideas out there? I am I explaining this correctly?

Gimp stores its brushes in a hidden folder in your /home called ".gimp-2.2/brushes". Just copy and paste all of your .gbr files into there.
