Okay, we need a little more info than what you are providing. What exactly doesn't work: installation, configuration, gameplay, etc.? How did you install it: from the source or from the Ubuntu repositories?
I just installed it through Synaptic and worked right out of the box, so I don't know how else to explain it.

Just run this command
sudo apt-get install neverball
and everything is done and ready to play!

Don't get it from the website, install it through Synaptic, it is already part of the Ubuntu repositories.
1. Click on System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager
2. Enter your password
3. When the application opens, click on the Search button and type in "neverball"
4. Click on the Neverball package and select "Mark for installation"
5. Any additional required packages will be automatically selected, click the Mark button
6. Click on the Apply button then wait a few minutes for the packages to install.
7. Play the game (it will appear in your Application menu under Games)
EDIT - or do as Golyadkin says. I usually send newbies the GUI route, but terminal is actually much easier.
