If I already used Wubi to install a successful Ubuntu install, do I need to keep using it? Are there any fixes to Wubi that may affect me (for example, I read about a hibernation bug). Or am I just done with Wubi?

I believe all Wubi really does is store Ubuntu's file system as a normal Windows-type file... in other words, there's probably some file called ubuntu.qqq that's several gigabytes, and when you boot into Ubuntu rather than Windows, it mounts "ubuntu.qqq" as a sort of virtual harddrive. So you're kinda always using Wubi and yet kinda never... it's all fairly transparent.

If you ever want to get rid of the Wubi-specific tweaks, and have a "real" ubuntu install (mostly for performance, safety, and security reasons), though, it's fairly easy and safe to switch over by using LVPM, without losing anything: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=438591
