Since Linux doesn't actually support DirectX, your best bet may be to look for a Windows application and run it in Wine on Ubuntu.

the direct x fie is just a text file, why isent there a app that loads them and renders using gl insted of direct x. as i sed its just to check that it exported propaly. ive had no luck rining a viewer threw wine.

a) This isn't a programming forum.
b) You're exporting them from Blender. Why not just export in a file format that has a Linux viewer for it?
c) You didn't use Google before asking this question. I mean, at all. This was the second result for "direct x file"

a) You are not a moderator, let them do their jobs
b) He explained why he needs a viewer for a DX file format
c) He asked for an application, not instructions on coding something for the .X file format

Well, excuse me for being terse.
I mentioned that it's not a programming forum because it's not. He'll probably have better luck getting an answer to his question elsewhere.
That link I posted includes platform independant example code along with the instructions.
If you don't want to compile that, there's alsp this thing (http://www.wizards.de/phil/java/rs274x.html), which I don't think supports pixelshading.
You could import the .x file back into blender if you just want to verify file integrity.
Pov-ray might be able to render .x files, but my experiance with it is limited, so I'm not sure.
I'm *am* trying to be helpful, even if I give short answers. :-)
