Anybody have any clue where you can find old loki installers? I heard that there was an installer for Call of Duty 2 out, and I went to the loki site but they had removed all of them that were related to games "said" to be fully supported by wine. Well, wine doesn't install Call of Duty 2 for me, even though the AppDB says the problems have been resolved. So I have absolutely no idea how to install this game, and I just found out that I can't even install the game on Windows - all this fooling around with copying files to and from a disc has corrupted the install! A Linux install is my last option for this game, besides downloading a .iso and burning it to a disc, a task that will consume at least 24 hours, my bandwidth and considerable power.

Messing around with copying the install CDs won't affect the original media at all unless you scratched one of them. CD/DVD media is static and you cannot corrupt the files that are on them, since they can't be written to.
That being said, exactly what is happening when you try to install the game? What does Wine output to the terminal when the install fails? We need more specific info to troubleshoot this problem. It might be helpful if you copied the terminal output into a post.
Also, do you have all your settings configured as described in AppDB by those who have successfully installed and run the game?

I checked http://www.liflg.org/ and they didn't have an installer for your game... I guess your best bet is Wine. Try comparing your Wine version with the version tested in AppDB. It may be something broke/fixed it between versions.
For your windows problem, you should probably try to uninstall the game from both the add/remove programs screen and the uninstaller that (should have) came with the game. Then reinstall.

Yes, one thing I should have done before posting this was check the discs... Disc #1 has a small crack, so *gasp* I'm stealing an image from the internet and mounting it to a DVD, and that will work. Since I have my own code which I purchased legally through retail channels, anybody coming with a subpeona to appear before a grand jury hearing will have to take a close look at my situation...
Anyways, this should pretty much take care of my problem, seeing as the game will now be on a single disc, and Wine should have no problem installing it.

Famous last words :)
Just kidding, good luck with the install.
