You can read about the "universe" component here:

http://www.ubuntulinux.org/ubuntu/components/document_view

it contains essentially everything which was in Debian unstable at the time
of our freeze. You should use those packages rather than mixing packages
from Debian, as this will give more predictable results.

The artwork and themes are temporary; they will be replaced before the final
release in October.

would be nice to see VLC here, has not so many feature like mplayer but comes
with a "all in one" package, so you do not need any codecs.

Hey men!, what a great distro !.

For a long time I was searching my perfect distro (debian system + gnome
+ last software + stability + lots of sofware) and finally I find it!!!
Why don't you had this great idea before ? :)

Well, now some problems I find:

- Language support: I'm from spain and I find some lacks of localize
packages, for example myspell-es. I download from debian sid and
installed it without problems but it should be in umbutu repository.
mozilla-locale-es is anothe example (dependenci problems). I think
language support is very importan for a good distribution.

- WiFi configuration: I like network configurationi tool (from redhat
??) but for wifi should be necesary include WEP and other parameters to
be configured. I find problems after create the interface, if you edit
it and change the net name sometimes the application hangs and sometimes
unconfigure the interface in /etc/network/interface (change interface
name with a var name).

Another point, I think art work could be improbed with better
wallpapers, login screen and splash screen. The color theme its a
little... well, let's say goodable.

Finally I can report a succes install in a laptop P4 2.4 with ati radeon
7500. I have installed j2re from blackports (debian sid) and mplayer and
codecs from marillat repository without any problem.

It's impressive the work made in this preview, I can imagine the final
release...

Best Regards.
I'm happy :).
