Hello to everyone. :)

I'm new to Linux and have just been browsing for Linux MMORPGS.

I came across, Open Outcast (www.openoutcast.org/index.php). These guys are using
a free cross-platform software development kit for realtime 3D graphics called
Crystal Space. (http://www.crystalspace3d.org/main/Main_Page).

These guys need developers for various aspects of Open Outcast development.
I thought I should bring it to the attention of the community, my little bit of
contribution to these guys, who are doing it for free (as fans of the original Outcast
game by infogames/appeal).

Give their website a look and I hope they get some support.

Perhaps one day I will. Looks neat. Crystalspace, I know, is the engine the drives Planeshit, so that isn't shabby. Though the name says open I see no link to the source, I wonder if it is open-source.

Hi there Dirk!

To clear up the bit about free source, see FAQ link for the site:http://www.openoutcast.org/en_faq.php

Here's one of the FAQs:-
- Will "open Outcast" come for free?
Yes.
The idea behind the development of oOC is creating a game that's fun and available to everyone with the option to modify it. Because of this we will make all of the code open Source so you can use the open Outcast framework or parts from it for your own games without any charge (being mentioned in the credits would be fair though ;)).

Following link is for download for tar files and for Sourcecode + Gamedata (about 66.9 Mb).

[Edit] Note source code for demo only, still under development.
