Just got my Ubuntu CDs now need help

Ok I just got my Ubuntu CD but I need some help installing it in to another one of my partitions so it doesn't erase my Windows partition.

Can some give me a step by step tutorial on how I could accomplish this after it is booted from the cd?

Also will I have to change my GRUB file if I want to make it a dual-boot system or will Ubuntu take care of that?

Do you have another Linux distro already installed, or just Windows?

No I just have a Windows parition, a back up Windows partition and a free partition which I plan on putting Linux on

it's not usual to see a "!" with "please help" next to it, but what ever, the ubuntu cd will just do what you need.

It will ask you what partition to use, so you will tell it the right one, then after it will install grub for booting ubuntu and windows.
