Kiba-Dock and Beryl

Just a quick question here...

Beryl refuses to work properly lately on my computer after a upgrade so I was wondering if I can use kiba-dock without Beryl?

you need A compositor for it, if not beryl then compiz xcompmgr or xfces compositor

Well I have "Desktop Effects' enabled and working, so does that mean that I have a composite manager up and running?
