I'm running feisty +xgl=beryl. I have the gui for my nvidia settings manager and when i go to it I have no options to choose from. I can't change anything...particularly the refresh rate. The funny thing is that when i log into a gnome session instead of xgl I can change my nvidia settings with no problem and the screen clarity and sharpness is much better...but under gnome my beryl doesnt run well.

I have an nvidia geforce 6400 video card and I'm using a sony vaio vgn-s580.

Currently, I have 2 choices on gnome for refresh rate...50 and 65hz. My understanding is that my optimal refresh rate is 60hz and I want to set it to that but I cant.

Any suggestions?

Nope the optimal refresh rate is what your monitor handles not what beryl handles.

Currently, I have 2 choices on gnome for refresh rate...50 and 65hz.

Those are Fine.

Also go to beryl settings and under the general settings uncheck Sync to VBlank

Is there a reason? Are you having problems?

im not having any problems but when i log into gnome session my fonts and windows just seem alot more crisp....but in xgl it seems a little "dark"

also, i was wrong, the two refresh rate choices i have are 50 and 51 (not 65).

the only reason i said 60hz is optimal is because when i run XP my refresh rate is set at 60hz and everything looks great.

oh, and "sync to vblank" is already unchecked....

so now im just at a loss for words, no idea what to do

i do appreciate the help
