You could try vdrift but the web server is down at the moment. Its in the repositories though but it might be an older version.

But I agree, vdrift is awesome.
The controls are weird at first, something you may find more familiar is ManiaDrive (http://maniadrive.raydium.org/).
It's not quite as advanced as Vdrift, but it has a nicer feel for the most part.
