We're looking at which distro to use in our "mission critical" server farm of some 500 machines. At this point we're leaning toward Ubuntu LTS but there are folks that really want Gentoo (um...don't look at me).
So here's an odd question: how many folks are needed to do all the LTS type maintainence (security monitoring, backports, etc) for LTS?
I would assume that if we went the Gentoo route and wanted a stable tree we'd have to do pretty much everything the Ubuntu LTS team does.
Thanks for any info.
