sorry, there was a total misunderstanding between me and a few testers
about versions of the driver to test and these conclusions are plain wrong.

Sorry for the noise.

hi guys,
I am writing here because i am in doubt of which direction to take.

Basically this is the situation:

- - xfree86 nv driver:
~ + doesn't support all the new LCD panels.
~ + Xv extensions have a known working fix.

- - xorg driver:
~ + supports all the new LCD panel.
~ + it enables Xv extensions on more video cards.
~ + Xv extensions do not work for all cards (see note below)

After i did spend 4 days hunting down this problem, trying to make the
xorg driver working, I am running out of ideas of where the problem can
be. I am afraid that the fix is hidden in some oscure part of X code
that I am a bit unhappy to touch since it might change behaviour for
all the other drivers.

Which direction does the community want to take?

(note: Also it has been noted that Xv extension do not work only for
mplayer. Apparently the other players that we support work more than fine.)

Any comment would be really appreciate even if personally I have the
feeling that we should keep the XORG driver we are shipping now for a
largest compatibility. Also because we ship nvidia non-free drivers
for people that find unacceptable to have Xv with mplayer not working.

Thanks
Fabio
