Run Windows programs like native Mac applications with Parallels Coherence
New! Run today’s most popular PC games on a Mac with support for 3D graphics
I know there is VMWare but why only OS X has video acceleration for virtualasation.. Why is this not available on Windows or Linux? Is this because technical difficulties of the OS as the hardware is pretty much the same ? :(

I purchased Parallels about 1 1/2 years ago thinking that it would be well-supported. As it turns out, they are woefully behind any kernel updates and their tech support stinks. They absolutely do not answer emails.
Try Virtual Box. It's free and it works.

Yes but can virtual box do this?
2. Play the hottest 3D games!
OpenGL and DirectX support lets you explore a whole new world of 3D games and applications right on your Mac. Play Half-Life 2 and work in Sony Vegas at near native speeds right in your Parallels virtual machine.

No. The only thing that has anything close to 3D support for Windows is vmware, and it is experimental. Our best bet right now is probably to wait on vmware to get better.

But isn't the 3d support in Vmware for OS X only too :KS

Wait for the games to be ported, don't cheat the market because then games makers won't see anything wrong in making windows only games with the rubbish windows directx apis instead of SDL et al.

Nah I'll just play games that don't involve thos horrible formats... interestingly most are free; although stupid gamers always buy the latest and greatest games for no apparent reason other than to waste money supporting bad technologies.
there you have it, I hate gamers.

You have a lot of hate my friend, and that's coming from a guy with Killer in his name. :)
You should try some of the newer stuff like STALKER. People aren't as stupid as your grumpy self would suggest they are, and gamers these days (the non-casual ones I should say) are generally VERY selective about what to buy, so they aren't unnecessarily wasting money... just their lives I suppose.
EDIT: One more thing - if DirectX has been so rubbish, why is it that the best use of GL I've seen in a game so far, the Doom 3 engine (also used in Quake 4/Prey), has absolutely NO COMPARISON to something like STALKER or Half-Life 2 or Oblivion or many other games? Not only is DX popular, it's PRETTY. Cross-platform is too much work, at least as far as the companies are concerned.
People have said that the newer versions of GL will support roughly what DX10 does. All right, SHOW US then. We already have DX10, and I've yet to see a GL game render anything which compares to the best DX9 games even. Admittedly not enough people use GL for commercial game development, but maybe there's a reason for this? (hint - it's one part Microsoft and one part practicalities).
