try to go on beryl setting manager - general options and set:
Horizontal Virtual Size 4
Vertical Virtual Size 1
Number of desktop 1

i have 3 more questions
how can you change the amount of viewpoints now and
can i name them (i cant name them the normal way because it says i have only one viewpoint)
and how do you set a background image for the cube
thanks in advance Louis

this would be a good time to point out that beryl doesnt use "workspaces" or "desktops"
it uses whats refered to as viewports
not to accurately but easily explained would clones of your desktop/workspace rendered again in different locations, like the sides of the cube.
for this reason, keep your gnome "workspaces" or kde "desktops" at one, anymore seriously confuses beryl and your desktop environment
