Is there some way I can find out what kind of vid card I have in my machine w/out getting inside? I'm running daper and would like to upgrade to edgy and install beryl eye candy. Thanx

You could type lspci in a terminal, it will list some information about the hardware. My listed this at the bottom of the list.
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV43 [GeForce 6600/GeForce 6600 GT] (rev a2)

I like Sysinfo. It tells you all kinds of things with a nice GUI. It's in the repos.
sudo apt-get install sysinfo

Thanx, Dirtdog. Installed sysinfo. works fine. You're right, nice GUI, easy to use. I'm not quite a newb but OTH I've still got a lot to learn.:D
