I've noticed that there has been an increasing amount of requests being made for programs to be backported for Ubuntu. I consider my knowledge of Linux and Ubuntu to be between intermediate and advanced and I'm thinking about trying to port some packages to Ubuntu myself.
How would I go about submitting a package into the backports repository? I'd just like to know how I would go about doing my part with helping Ubuntu.

Just post them here and poke a backports dev. They can review your packages and upload them if they're built correctly.

Is there a short guide available and some guidline documents to follow? I'm also interested in trying out to package and maybe I can then also contribute and help out.
