Diablo II under VMware Server?

Hi all.

I downloaded and installed the new free VMware server so that I could play Diablo II:LOD but it won't recognize the CD.
I was wondering if anyone here has been able to get D2:LOD working under any version of VMware and how they got past the insert CD issue...
Second I was hoping that by making an ISO of the LOD CD I could bypass having to put my cd in every time I wanted to play by using the built in iso loader included in VMware server.
I use windows 2k as the guest OS...

EDIT: my mistake, it runs fine under VMware Server as long as you use the physical CD :-) (still want to use an iso to save my poor CD)

You can run Diablo II under WINE, it would probably be a much better solution since it only has to run the game, not an entire copy of Windows.

true but it is up and working fine under VMware/win2k

Sad truth is I am turning into a VMware freak.
Since I have 3 cd keys I can run 3 copies of D2:LOD
1 on my laptop from work,
2 under VMware on my desktop machine.

this way I can have a main character that I play, a low lvl character that I am rushing and a 3rd character in a mule game for when the first 2 characters get full of items ;)
