I am not sure what Dell models would come with Lightscribe-capable drives, but I recently searched again for it and came up with Feist packages that someone had don.

The Fiesty packages are for LaCie's 4L software (http://www.lacie.com/support/drivers/driver.htm?id=10094) (which is non-free BTW):

If you use this and it bothers you that it's non free, perhaps a short note to LaCie and HP explaining you wish this was freed / open-sourced would be nice :) To read more about the Lightscribe technology:

just a random tidbit regarding LightScribe: If you find the labels to be too faint for your liking, you can actually burn the same label to a single disc multiple times, and it will result in a higher contrast. I suppose there is the possibility that it may affect the data-life of the CD if it burns the images darker than the manufacturors intended--but that's just speculation. I've done it for a couple Ubuntu CD's I've handed out to friends (tested them first, they worked )
