I have been installing with the 64-bit version of Feisty, bust I'm not entirely sure that I should be.
What are you other C2D MacBook Pro users using? 32 or 64?

64-bit all the way. I originally used 32-bit, but it was a real timewaster as far as processing speed went for compiling, etc. You might want to add a poll to this thread, as long as it's clear to everyone that only the C2D users should be responding.

You're all set. You've probably heard the "alternate" installer CD recommended a lot for the MBPs, but this was to help deal with an issue with drivers for the ATI graphics card. With an Nvidia, you should be in the clear.

Using the 64 AMD version means a lot more unstable software, right? Wouldn't be safer to install the 386 version?

This is FUD. Please search the 64-bit forums for more information as to why. Kilz is a pro at slaying this kind of FUD, so look for his posts specifically (they're hard to miss!). In brief, 64-bit configuration is very minor and is worthwhile to a certain crowd because it allows the hardware to be fully utilized. If you're willing to spend a very small amount of time with setup, then there's nothing that 32-bit can do that 64-bit can't do better.
