A real quick story with a small question at the end....

I have a Canon PowerShot S3 IS digital camera. It is the best camera I have ever owned and enjoy using it. One trick with it lately has been Windows XP not automatically detecting it when it is plugged in. This is an inconsistent issue but bothered me a bit since I would pull out the card and insert it into the card reader on the front of my desktop face plate.

So, last night I shot some photos, connected the camera and it was identified immediately. The photos were easily viewed. :D

So, here is the question... What do you folks suggest for organizing photos? I really have only done it by date, where the camera software would auto create a folder with the date the photos were taken and then throw them in there. Is there anything similar to this built in or easily accessible via the repositories, etc.?

Thanks again everybody...

The only one I know of is:
http://picasa.google.com/linux/

It's basically the Windows version running in Wine.
The download is here:

You may need to run the command in my signature before it will install.
