Request: Splashy

Boot and Shutdown splash screens for Linux. They allready have a debian package and the are in debian repositories. Since USplash seems to be defered indefinetly with Ubuntu I thought this would be a nice alternative and could be offered in the backports repository.

It's on the MOTU List... but having spoken to someone about it before, It's not going to be included in ubuntu

What is MOTU?

I can understand why it won't be in an Ubuntu release, but will it ever be in the backports repository?
