Mepis is Unresponsive

I am finding that if I am playing a cd in mepis, it will make my computer temporarily unresponsive. Firefox will not respond and 9wm will not allow me to select items from the menu. The system will respond after awhile, but I find that annoying. I have a 1.6 GHz, this shouldn't happen.

You are probably better off posting this in the Mepis forums, since they use Ubuntu as a base, but actually make significant changes to the kernel, desktops, and applications.

I'm wondering, since you are using 9wm, I'm wondering if they somehow tied the mount to KDE. I recall using Mepis installed, and there was zero issue with system speed, and I'm at 2.2ghz. Not that much faster.
