My laptop does not have a floppy drive which means that I can't play with a Windows 98 floppy disk.

I know that this is a linux forum but does anybody know of a way that I could convert such a disc onto a CD which I could then boot my computer with?

I only ask because I need to so that I can use Norton Internet Ghost. The floppy re-sets the mbr and some how allows me to get a clone of my operating system up and running.

But if anybody knows a better way to reset the mbr (which I have no idea is or does :( ) for a Windows OP then please let me know.

Cheers

For all your booting needs, get the Super Grub Disk. It allows you to boot to various operating systems, and restore the mbr for Windows, including Vista. It does a lot of things, too many to list off of the top of my head.

I used it recently to reinstall the mbr for my brother's computer after it was overwritten.

Yes it's possible as I did it once. Don't ask me how as I cannot remember.

Thanks for the link and the suggestion of a Super Grub Disk. Unfortunately I did not have a clue which link to use so I did a bit of searching and came up with this. Hope you find it useful.

i think there is a windows utility called 'winimage' that does that, though i am not sure if it is free or not!

you could also, depending on if you can boot from usb, make a usb boot drive, more info from here:
